European Union to Crack Down on Conversion Therapy

The European Union wants to boost efforts to ban conversion therapy and tackle hate against LGBTQ+ people in the face of an increase in attacks against the community. Around one in four members of the LGBTQ+ community in the EU — including almost half of trans people — have been subjected to some form of conversion therapy, whether in the form of physical or sexual violence, verbal abuse or humiliation, according to data presented by the European Commission on Wednesday.
